IPL requires contrast between skin and hair color to work its magic. IPL targets melanin, a hair pigment that absorbs light emitted by the device and directs it to the hair follicle. This means RoseSkinCo IPL is a good fit for many, but not all skin tones.

IPL may not be effective on very light blonde, red, or grey hair. IPL also may cause burns on highly melanated skin, though it still works for many darker skin tones.
